About Us

Welcome to The Santanero, your local news and community newspaper based in Santa Ana, California. Founded on April 20, 2022, by Daniel Diaz and Lucía Yletzara González, we're more than just a newspaper – we're digital (for now)!

Our Mission

At The Santanero, our mission is clear: to bridge the gap between Santaneros and local government, while keeping residents informed about the latest happenings in our vibrant city. Through our straightforward news-style, we aim to deliver information in a way that is accessible for all members of our community.

What Sets Us Apart

Local Focus: Unlike national news outlets, we are deeply committed to covering stories that matter most to our fellow Santaneros. From neighborhood events to city council meetings, we strive to keep our readers informed about the issues directly impacting or involving our community.

Community Engagement: We believe in the power of community engagement. Starting mid-November 2024, anyone can submit a request to place an event on our CommunityCal (rules apply).

Non-AP Style: Our news-style is straightforward and accessible, prioritizing clarity and relevance over formalities. We want our readers to feel informed and engaged in a way that is easy to digest and share with others.
